Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2026

Thank you for visiting. This is a personal website for my writing, my family’s journeys, our family history and the archives I have gathered over the years. I want you to be able to read and explore it comfortably, so this page explains, in plain language, what little information the site collects and how it is handled.

In this policy, “I”, “me” and “my” mean Dov Bleich, and “the site” means this website and its pages.

The short version

  • You can read the whole site without creating an account or telling me who you are.
  • The only personal information I ask for is what you choose to send through the contact form.
  • I use it to read and reply to your message, and for nothing else.
  • I do not sell, rent or trade your information, and I do not use it for advertising.

Information you give me

When you use the contact form, you send me your name, your email address and your message. Please only include what you are comfortable sharing. If you write to me by email instead, I receive whatever your email contains.

The site has no user accounts, no payments and no newsletter, so I do not collect passwords, card details or mailing-list sign-ups.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, the site keeps some technical information when you visit. This happens through the companies that host and deliver it:

  • Hosting. The site is built and hosted on Webflow. Webflow’s servers, and the networks that deliver its pages, automatically record standard log information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you request and the date and time of your visit. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
  • Cookies. Webflow may set a small number of basic cookies or similar technologies that the site needs in order to work properly and securely. I do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
  • Fonts and page resources. Some fonts and scripts are loaded from outside providers, such as Google Fonts. When your browser loads them, those providers receive your IP address and basic browser information, as they would on any site that uses them.

If I add an analytics tool in the future, for example to see which pages people read, I will update this policy to say so.

How I use your information

  • To read and answer your message, and to keep a record of our conversation.
  • To run the site, keep it secure and understand and fix technical problems.
  • To meet any legal obligation, if one ever applies.

I will not add you to a mailing list or send you anything you did not ask for.

Sharing

I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. It is shared only with the service providers that make the site and my email work, such as Webflow, which delivers contact-form messages to me, and my email provider. These providers handle the information on my behalf under their own privacy and security terms. I may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect the safety, rights or property of me or others.

Links and outside content

The site links to other websites, including my Instagram (instagram.com/dovbleich), Wachsen (wachsen.nyc), the publications where my articles first appeared, and shared folders of documents. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else’s site, and their privacy policy applies, not this one. I am not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so it is worth reading their policies too. If the site ever shows embedded content, such as a video or a social media post, the company that provides it may collect information about you in the same way as if you visited it directly.

How long I keep information

I keep contact-form messages and our email correspondence only for as long as I need them to reply to you and to keep a reasonable record of our conversation. You can ask me to delete them at any time. Technical logs kept by the hosting providers are kept for the periods set by those providers.

Keeping information safe

The site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and I rely on reputable providers to host the site and deliver messages. No website or email system is ever completely secure, so please do not send highly sensitive information through the contact form.

Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

  • tell you what personal information I hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your information;
  • stop using it for a particular purpose.

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or a similar jurisdiction, you have these rights under the GDPR and similar laws. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, although I would appreciate the chance to sort out any concern first. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have similar rights, and I will never treat you differently for using them. I do not sell or share personal information for advertising, as those laws define it.

To make a request, email me at [contact email]. I may need to confirm who you are before acting on it, and I will reply within the time the law allows, usually within 30 days.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work for reading, though some features may not.

Family history and archive material

The Roots and Archives sections contain historical documents, photographs and family records, some of which name real people. If you see information about yourself or a family member that you believe is wrong, or that you would like removed, please write to me at [contact email] and I will look at it carefully.

Children

The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, please let me know and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time, for example if the site changes or the law does. When I do, I will post the new version here and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
